Taffia.org - Welsh Ex-Pats
Recent times have meant that many Welsh people have moved from Wales for various reasons; to study, for employment or simply to search of a better life. All over England I have known this to be the case, I constantly meet many Welsh exiles living in the South East and know of many Welsh people that have moved further a field.
One of Taffia.org aims is to strengthen the Welsh Societies that exist across the world and in the UK. Taffia.org has 44 Welsh societies listed in England alone and I’m sure there are many more out there. Many of these societies actively post on Taffia.org to encourage new members and to inform the world of what they are doing.
I would also like to encourage a change in Welsh societies to attract younger members, by, for example having more meet ups in the pub, to watch the international football and rugby matches, perhaps even having a Welsh learners evening. On the Taffia.org forums we have a board for the sole purpose of meeting up to watch sporting events. Many societies and individuals post where they will be watching different matches, so that others can join where they know there will both be a friendly face and enough people to persuade the landlord or lady of the pub to put the match on! I would love to see more ideas for social events and more posts from individuals and societies to tell us your stories.
The intention of Taffia.org to bring all Welsh people across the globe together in one place. It’s free to register and use Taffia.org and if you’re in a society, I can set up a board (page) specifically for your society. Whether an individual or Welsh society, register on the forum and get involved!
Pob hw^yl,
Phil Thomas.
